Health identifiers across nine countries: the Danish CPR number, the British NHS number, the French social security number, the American prescriber number, the Italian health card, the Australian Medicare number, the Brazilian CNS, the German insurance number and the Swiss AHV number. Health data is the most sensitive category any of these registries carries, and the one where a miss costs the most. The Danish number is declared first because its written form, a validated birth date and a dash, also reads as an NHS number, and the more specific shape should win. The American provider number is absent: it is ten bare digits, exactly the NHS number, and no ordering separates them. It lives in the us-health group instead.
